Another grouping of Southern Straight Dancers, during the Osage traditional dances, The I-lon-skha. A very special month in the Osage Calendar. Every June, the Osage gather in the three districts, Greyhorse, Hominy, and Pawhuska. We gather with our family, friends, community and we dance, eat, visit! I have done this since I was a small child and I started dancing when I was 13! I feel the energy the minute I drive into the village area, during the meals, getting dressed for the session, dancing around the drum. I see these visions in my head, all year, and these snippets find their way on to my canvas! I love to spend time painting these visions!
