Print; Great Blue Heron; Copy of an original by Joe Don Brave. My favorite past time is fishing. I spend as much time as I can, fishing the back creeks and ponds of Osage County, on the hunt for that elusive monster fish. I compete with the Great Blue Heron, often, and I have a tendency to scare them from their hiding spot, as they are fishing too. They leap into the air, when I come up on them, and I more often than not, don't realize they are there, and it's a bit dramatic as we are both very startled! The Great Blue Heron is native to the entire region the Osage once claimed, and though there are few stories about the Heron, it still was an important animal to the Osage. I paint it, for it's beauty, and strength.
