Monochromatic Apache Crown Dancers, an original painting by Joe Don Brave.
I started a monochromatic series in the Fall of 2025, pulling a color out of a bag and seeing what I could do with it.
As a child, my grandmother was one of the hostesses of the Osage Days, held in Hominy Indian Camp. During these days, the Apache Crown Dancers were invited to dance. I was fascinated by them! I have painted them often, and while working on my new monochromatic series, of course I had to paint them.
20" x 24"; Acrylic on Canvas.
