Under the Prairie Moon; an original painting by Joe Don Brave.
I have the opportunity to visit the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, near my home in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and see the bison at different times of the year and different times of the day! This bull bison was standing on a mound, as we entered the prairie preserve from the west, not our usual entrance. He was just standing there, watching us. The evening was turning to night and the moon was near us in the sky, bright yellow! I add them together and this is the result! I love to capture these magnificent animals as often as I can! Each encounter is unique and each painting of a bison, that I do, reflects this uniqueness.
