June Heat. An Osage Straight Dancer, in the heat of the June dances, when Oklahoma is 100 degrees in the shade! I have danced in the traditional Osages dances most of my life, and the heat is part of the dances. Traditionally the dances were held in the fall, when the weather was cool and wool broad cloth was comfy, but changes happened and now it's in June! Southern Straight Dancers is a dance style that is the traditional style of the Osage at the I-lon-skha (The Osage Traditional Dances, held in June of each year, a time of homecoming and family for the Osage!)
