First Daughters Blanket, a traditional blanket worn by First Daughters of the Osage Nation. Red broadcloth signifies first children, a very important honor to recognize. With traditional ribbonwork around the edge of the blanket and hands signifying friendship. This was originally a painting by Joe Don Brave, Osage/Cherokee artist, known internationally for his colors and depiction of Osage and Cherokee heritage and history.
